More Information

  • Real oak, made more usable

Querkus is built around the natural beauty of oak, but developed for the realities of modern interiors.

Every panel begins with a carefully crafted wood veneer top layer. Decospan’s mixmatch technique combines selected timber cuts from different trees into a composed veneer sheet. The result is a surface that keeps the character of real wood while reducing the visual inconsistencies that can make larger veneer projects difficult to manage.

  • What is mixmatch?

Mixmatch is Decospan’s signature technique for creating a more balanced veneer surface.

Instead of relying on a single repetitive pattern, selected cuts of timber are joined together into a sheet. This gives each panel the natural uniqueness of wood while helping designers and fabricators achieve a more consistent overall look across panels, rooms, and project phases.

  • Texture you can see and feel

Querkus is designed around the tactile quality of oak.

Through slicing patterns, jointing methods, and brushing techniques, the collection brings out the natural grain structure of the wood. This creates depth, shadow, and movement across vertical surfaces, cabinetry, built-ins, and architectural millwork.

For the strongest tactile effect, brushed finishes are recommended to highlight the grain structure and give the veneer a more dimensional surface.

  • Designed for real projects

Querkus is available across multiple formats, giving project teams more ways to carry a consistent oak expression through an interior.

    Available formats include:

    • Panels
    • Sheets
    • Flex
    • Edge banding
    • Astrata slats
    • Astrata Coustics

This makes Querkus useful for millwork-heavy projects where cabinetry, wall panels, curves, edges, slatted details, and acoustic surfaces need to work together.

  • Responsible material thinking

Querkus uses oak sourced from well-managed forests and reclaimed timber, connecting the beauty of real wood with a more responsible approach to material use.

The collection is designed to preserve the natural value of oak while making it more efficient, accessible, and practical for contemporary design and fabrication.

Querkus Technical Details

  • Panels

Querkus panels are made with a real oak veneer top layer and a veneered balancing layer for stability.

Standard panel options include MDF or chipboard cores. Other cores and dimensions may be available on request.

    Common panel sizes include:

    • 4 x 10 ft
    • 4 x 8 ft

Available veneer thicknesses vary by collection and format, including 0.6 mm, 1.0 mm, and 1.5 mm options.

  • Sheets

Querkus sheets are designed for applications where lamination onto alternative substrates is required.

The sheets include a firm paper-backer, making them easier to manipulate and glue.

    Common sheet size:

    • 4 x 10 ft
    • Thickness: 1 mm

Typical applications include flexible pressing, doors, edge banding, and other custom surface applications.

  • Flex

Querkus Flex is a flexible oak veneer layon designed for curved surfaces and alternative substrates.

The veneer is pressed onto paper and the wood fibers are broken to allow the sheet to flex. The top and paper layers are bonded with formaldehyde-free glue.

    Common flex size:

    • 4 x 10 ft
    • Thickness: 0.6 mm

Typical applications include curved surfaces, doors, flexible pressing, and edge applications.

  • Edge Banding

Querkus edge banding is available to support a refined finished edge across the collection.

Standard veneer edge banding is available in 0.6 mm veneer and two widths for all looks. Natura references Adagio, Allegro, and Vivace are also available in 1 mm veneer.

    Common sizes:

    • 24 mm x 100 m / 15/16 in x 328 ft
    • 48 mm x 100 m / 1-7/8 in x 328 ft
  • Astrata Coustics

Astrata Coustics are veneered acoustic panels for walls and ceilings.

They are composed of black MDF with a felt backing and offer a wood-based solution for projects with sound absorption needs.

Astrata Coustics are available in two formats and coordinate with Querkus Adagio and Allegro.

  • Finish Options

Querkus panels are pre-sanded and intended for further finishing.

The collection can be finished with varnish or oil, and the wood can also be stained prior to finishing. Panels should be sanded again before finishing to support adhesion and improve the finishing process.

    Available surface treatments include:

    Plain
A smooth, pre-sanded surface that should be further sanded and finished.

    Brushed B1
A subtle, light brush treatment that highlights the grain structure.

    Brushed B2 and B3
Deeper brushing options with a more pronounced texture, comparable to a sand-blasted effect. These treatments must be applied double-sided for panel stability.
